"It really makes me wonder if killing the lot would be faster."

More than likely yes. After a series of seeing bad 'run the gauntlet' wipes in various dungeons, I've been pushing a command decision on my guild to stop running past and start clearing these things.

9 times out of 10, the 5 minutes it takes to clear is faster than the 10 minutes it takes to keep running over and over again until nobody face plants...

Especially if there's anyone new who doesn't know to dodge, hold A+B, and jump left, at 30 seconds in... :)

Running is often not worth it. Even if you know it well, RNG can screw it all up if the wrong person gets hit by a CC.

I've been thinking of wandering in there solo to try and figure out their pathing and get more familiar with the map. Might do that before the next attempt now that the "first time" discovery experience is done.

Time to read up and watch guides on p3 and see how others have 'solo'ed' aspects of it to see what they do too :)

Ahh how I laughed! :D I feel with you. Pugging Arah gotta be the hardest thing in the game or at least I haven't encountered any other dungeon nearly as bad. It can be 'quite okay' with a coordinated group certainly, I've probably had two or three...but for the bloody newcomer, it's a hell of a dungeon. that said, I do think Arah made me a better player; it made me think very hard about my spec and gear for the first time ever in GW2. I changed everything around completely after the first few Lupicus fights and it's ultimately benefited me a lot. I love that fight, it's one of the best in the game. more tactical multi-phase, yes please.

I'm done with Arah now as I finished the set. I mostly farmed p2 and p3 on a daily basis. I am still working on a follow-up post there. p1 is doable also, but I haven't dared yet try a p4 - I don't think I can take Dwayna in a pug. :D one day, I will have to try though.

"...something I bet Syl will guarantee a pug would never do". nope - sadly that never happened to me. the party would just kill the next boss by themselves and then let me WP. later on however, I managed the gauntlet rush alone a few times. I can't say what does it, but depending on where that initial patrol is and what utilities you use first, including lots of frantic dodging forward, it works. sometimes. ;)

Thanks for reading the post! In retrospect, even I find it exceedingly longwinded now.

Please bear in mind that some of the info is not accurate and a little outdated as this was written just as GW2 was launching.

From the perspective of time: Toughness is the stat to have as a guardian for survivability and aggro-holding, Vitality is not so important to guardians as there are a number of ways to self-heal (especially if you pick Altruistic Healing as a trait) but is handy in certain situations like PvP/WvW for larger health reservoir, Healing Power amps up your survivability to lol-worthy levels at the cost of damage, and Power/Precision/Crit Damage are the stats to look at for damage-dealing purposes.

You can't have it all, so you'll have to trade off some, and that customizes the performance of your guardian quite significantly.

Most importantly, the point of the post is that Blood Legion Charrdians are sexy and there's lore appropriate ways to explain their existence. Glad there's one more!

Considering I would patiently solo her DE even before the Secret of Southsun highlighted it to more people, I would say I am quite aware of the loopy Sylvari. :)

Just didn't see much to comment about it, really. Steering more people her way? Scaled up collection quest annoyance is the same everywhere and nothing special to complain about.

"A couple hours if you’re really focused. A day or so if you’re less intense about it. Maybe longer if you’re really casual."

IMHO, we will see a good quantity of players staying at Southsun Isle all month... for farm mobs and nodes there. The 200% magic find and the 200% coin find only work at the isles, there are some ori nodes, it is a good place for farm t6 mats, champiom mobs are droping reward chests and with a lot of people doing DE it is easier farm karka.

But the main reason for I stay there farming all month is for upgrade the new backpack (the 25 achievement one) to ascended gear: 250 karka shells, 100 passiflora flowers and 50 ectos. I have the ectos, IMHO the karka shells will come easy (all veteran karka ever drop them, young karka sometimes drop it and a lot of players are farming them, so I just need join the fight), but I will need stay there for repeatedly harvest the passiflora nodes (good thing they appear respawn in few hours). Well, that too can be a good time for farm 250 T6 blood for craft other ascended backpack.

I noted you don't write anything about "eating karka egg omelet" achievement. You don't found it?
